Frequently Asked Questions
Yellow Law Group works from five US locations: our head office in Plano, Texas, plus Chicago, Irvine (California), Alpharetta (Georgia) and a partner office in Fairfield, New Jersey. Immigration law is federal, so we represent clients in immigration matters anywhere in the United States and abroad, including people who have never entered the US. Personal injury and state law matters are handled from the office covering that state. If you are not near any of our offices, the whole matter can still run remotely.
Yes. A large part of our practice is clients who stay in Türkiye for the whole case. Company formation, trademark registration, visa petitions and contract work run remotely, documents are signed electronically and consultations are held by video in Turkish. You travel only when a consular interview or a court appearance requires it, and we tell you in advance when that point is coming.
Four main areas. US immigration, covering investor and business visas, employment-based green cards, family petitions and humanitarian cases. Corporate law, covering company formation, contracts, trademarks, compliance and outside general counsel work. Business litigation. And personal injury and wrongful death. The combination matters for founders and investors, because a corporate structure decision and a visa outcome are usually the same decision seen from two sides.
Only a licensed attorney can give you legal advice, sign a petition as your representative, or appear for you before USCIS, a consulate or a court. Consultancies that prepare petitions without attorney supervision are not authorized to practice law, and when a case goes wrong there is no bar regulator, no malpractice insurance and no privilege protecting what you told them. This matters most in investor cases, where a weak business plan or an undocumented source-of-funds trail is usually not fixable after a refusal. Ask anyone you speak to for the name and bar number of the attorney who will sign your file.
Yes. Your immigration status does not prevent you from bringing a personal injury claim, and it does not reduce what you are entitled to recover. Courts generally allow injured people to pursue compensation regardless of status, and status is usually not something you have to disclose in order to bring a claim. Insurance companies sometimes suggest otherwise, but that is a negotiating tactic rather than the law. If you were hurt, talk to a lawyer before accepting any offer.
It depends on which facts you can prove today. If you will put capital into a US business, E-2 is usually the route and Turkish citizens qualify under the treaty. If you already have substantial ongoing trade between Türkiye and the US, E-1 may need no new investment at all. If you already run a Turkish company and want to open a US operation, L-1 transfers you as a manager or specialist. If you want permanent residence directly through investment, EB-5 is the path. One consultation normally narrows this to one or two options.
Yes. Consultations, correspondence and case updates are available in Turkish, and our team also works in English, Spanish and Russian. Your documents are handled by people who read both languages in your file. This goes beyond convenience: Turkish and US legal concepts do not map onto each other cleanly, and a term translated literally can create a real misunderstanding about what you signed or what a form is asking.
It depends on the matter. Immigration petitions, company formation and trademark work are normally flat fee, so you know the cost before we begin. Litigation and general counsel work are hourly or on a monthly retainer. Personal injury cases are handled on a contingency fee, meaning you pay nothing upfront and the fee comes out of the recovery, and if there is no recovery there is no fee. Government filing fees are separate and always itemized for you.
The first case evaluation is free. It is a working session rather than a sales call: we review your situation, tell you which options are realistically open, identify the evidence you would need and give you a written fee quote for the recommended path. Bring any prior applications, refusal notices or correspondence you already have. If your case is not viable or not worth the cost, we tell you that directly instead of filing something that will fail.
Yes, and for founders this is usually the better arrangement, because the two are the same problem seen from two sides. How you structure ownership affects an E-2 or EB-1C petition. How you document payroll and job duties affects an H-1B. Whether your company is in good standing becomes evidence in a visa file. When separate firms handle each side, those connections are the part nobody owns, and that is where cases fail.
Timelines vary widely by category, from a few months for a premium-processed petition to several years where visa availability is backlogged. What we can do at the start is give you a realistic range for your category and nationality, tell you which parts of the timeline you control and which you do not, and flag whether filing sooner locks in a rule or a fee that is scheduled to change. Anyone promising you a specific date is guessing.
